About me
I am Émilie Dore, a Canadian artist based in Quebec. My art finds its origins in my first teenage scribbles that already revealed a desire to create worlds. My twenties marked a professionalization through my mentors, a period when I developed my skills in logo design and their adaptation to promotional materials. Since 2011, I have been evolving in the world of visual design, creating works for various media: helmets, skateboards, sports equipment and educational tools. The year 2014 marked a decisive turning point towards specialization in illustration. Returning to school in 2017 was a demanding challenge, where resuming studies at 30 years old had question the limits of my personal commitment. I developed a particular discipline, combining training requirements with professional and family realities. A graduate in arts at the college level, I now work as a freelance illustrator and visual arts technician.
Artistic approach
I have been mainly creating digital art for 20 years. Acquiring my first Wacom graphics tablet revealed infinite possibilities to me. My learning developed in a self-taught manner until 2014, when discovering international artistic communities enriched my practice through the exchange of techniques and advice. My recent academic journey awakened my attraction to traditional mediums, allowing me to rediscover the tension of the irreversible mistakes. The absence of that magical function that is CTRL + Z transforms my creative approach. Another form of satisfaction is revealed in accomplishing works away from the screen.
