Prendre la pose

A traditional portrait session was offered to 31 residents of Drummondville, along with the opportunity to leave with the original sketch signed by the artist.

All residents of Drummondville were invited to participate. This concept goes beyond entrepreneurs, public figures, and social achievements. The artist commits to creating connections with their community based on values of respect, reciprocity, transparency, openness, diversity, and inclusion. From these sketches resulted a unique community artwork produced digitally using drawing software and then printed in large format. An amalgamation of faces will compose an organic arrangement that suggests the topography of Drummondville.

The public’s experience as a model creates an environment conducive to exchanges about artistic practices, openness toward others, and the feeling of prestige that comes from being drawn. This opportunity offers citizens a modeling experience, an initiative to democratize the art of classical portraiture. Through study sessions in public spaces, these sessions will help spread artistic practice to residents outside standard exhibition venues that may intimidate uninitiated audiences. This approach allows collaboration with people who are not usually engaged in an artistic process, creating genuine artistic roots within the community.
